via Mozilla.org: "The DevEdge developer website has launched a redesign, using advanced CSS and XML that demonstrates Mozilla's extensive W3C standards support and cross-browser web development. The site features user-selectable stylesheets, cross-browser DHTML menus and structuring for accessibility and usability."

Mozilla still leads the pack! I attempted to visit the new DevEdge site with Safari only to have my browsing experience interrupted by a lock-up. I finally had to do a "Force Quit". Unfortunately, Safari did not leave me a crash log to inspect, so I couldn't determine the cause. I cannot help but wonder if Safari choked on some W3C standard. Mozilla; when it comes to bowsers and W3C standards, nothing can compete.

An insecure use of a temporary file has been indentified in Python 2.2.1 and earlier. Zack Weinberg is credited with determining that os._execvpe from os.py creates temporary files with predictable names, thus, allowing local users to execute arbitrary code via a symlink attack. Check out this Debian bug report for more details.

I am working in Safari today. It is fast. I like that it can be scripted using AppleScript, but I sure miss Mozilla's Tabs and Sidebar. What about it, Apple? Will you give us Tabs and a Sidebar soon?

Right now, I cannot see myself abandoning Mozilla. It is truly great technology. XPIs, XUL, CSS, Javascript, RDF and Gecko combined together, makes things very interesting for cross-platform development. No matter the platform, you have the same look-and-feel. If you take the time to explore Mozilla's inter-workings you will uncover many jewels. If you haven't used it, take a look. You might be surprised with what you see.

via Doc Searls Weblog: "That leaves Chris's fund. What do you think we should do with it? I don't want it for myself. I want it to pay forward in the spirit of generosity demonstrated by Chris and his readers, by my friend the TiBook donor, by Joe, and by the good soul who returned my laptop.

It is nice to see "pay it forward" in action. I have said it before, "The weblogging community is made up of a great bunch folks!"
