Dan Shafer askes for Meta-Weblog Services

...and Dave links to it...  I'd say "SlashDave" effect, but that URL's already taken. ;-)

I'd post something meaningful to the Community Server Wiki, but a "is this what yousguys a been workin on?" dropping is better left to email, or a less public humility of a weblog post. ;-)

Old computer ads

I recall reading some fellow PyCS blogger's memories of their first computers.

I started out on a Tandy Color Computer I and II (cheap step-brother of the TRS-80.)  My wonderful science teacher Mr. Vogt got me hooked and gave me his tape cassette program subscription pack and boxes of Hot CoCo and Rainbow magazines.

A treasure I hang on my wall at work from these is a full page ad of a smiling, greying Isaac Asimov under the banner "My Radio Shack Micro Color Computer Has Incredible Power and Performance."

...The CoCo II DID have twice the Mhz of a Commodore 64 (although half the colors) and ran OS/9 Unix off a floppy!  Now if it only would have run Python instead of RS-DOS BASIC ((c) Microsoft).

Another vote for Unit Testing...

Sam Ruby adds insight and personal preference commentary to the longstanding debate of data type paranoia.

Wackyness in Southern Iowa.

"In the early hours of the morning, .NET, Microsoft's platform for XML Web services, saved a five-year-old boy who fell down a well in Ottumwa, Iowa. "

I spent 10 years of my youth in Ottumwa, Iowa...

Dude...I can't shop at Dell

So I got this $30 "US Battery Settlement Rebate Coupon" to spend at Dell...

I can't find a thing for my Inspiron 5000e laptop for under $30! (10 minutes of browsing dell's website.)

So I called the 800 number...walked through the corridors of "press this for that", and within 30 seconds was talking with a sales rep.  "I'd like to buy something around, or preferabley undr, $30 for my Inspiron 5000 laptop." response: "Just a minute"...transfer tones...manly pre-recorded-words-now-assembled voice telling me to shop on-line at "dublUdublUdubLUdot..." or call back tomorow, and click, rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Dude! I got somethin' to blog about!
