Every time Bush has another made-for-TV speech/forum/release regarding how rosy the future of the economy is, the Dow dumps another 200 points.

At least, it certainly seems that way...

It appears that Jaguar has shipped. The new desktop macs all ship with Jaguar preinstalled and there are multiple reports of folks taking delivery on new machines-- iMacs, PowerBooks, etc... -- that included 10.2 in the box. As well, retailers have indicated that they have received boxed copies of 10.2.

I have been running OS X 10.2 for quite some time as my production OS. Remember the transition from 10.0 to 10.1? The number of things that were fixed or performed much better? The transition from 10.1 to 10.2 is similar except that there are a slew of new features, as well.

Digging under the hood is also very interesting -- it is clear that 10.1 laid a foundation that supports a much greater development velocity. That is, the sheer number of changes, improvements, additions, and optimizations in 10.2 would not have been possible unless the core of the OS was in a "just works" state.

Awesome stuff.

Back to ship dates: Maybe the 24th is the day that iCal and friends ships? I.e. that the entire Jaguar package ships and not "just" the core OS?

Odd. If I drag a window around on the external display (1280x1024 @ 75hz) hooked up to my TiBook, the TiBook makes a repeating high pitched chirping noise as the window moves around. Not from the speakers -- sounds more like it is coming from someplace near the top right of the keyboard (opposite side from the VGA connector). It isn't very loud, but is distinctly audible over the ambient noise in the office.
