12:10am CST on 12/10. Another year unwinds from the spool of mortal thread labeled bbum.

Left CodeFab. Joined Apple. Moved from CT to CA. Gained a bit more weight. Started losing a bit of it. Need to get back in shape, nothing new there. Son turned 3 -- he's all cool. Still married to a wonderful woman. Lots of good new music in my life. Lots of great code written and consumed, some that I can share, some that I can't.

Life is definitely not boring -- remains hugely entertaining. Could use a little less of some kinds of stress in the next year... a little more of others.

Speaking of not boring. I have seen 4 separate rainbows in the last 24 hours. Neat.

And to clarify the whole 'year unwinds' thing -- it seemed to have caused confusion: today is my birthday. As I get older, birthdays are more about reflecting on the past in an effort to optimize that which lies ahead.

Holiday music generally irritates me. Especially Christmas music. I just don't like it.

I'm not sure why. I think it is probably a combination of hearing the same songs so damned many times as elevator music combined with the over-marketed bastardization of the various holidays.

However, James Brown did a Christmas Album. That I like.

To be fair, I have a handful of other carols that I like. Sinéad O'Connor, Enya, Erasure, and Annie Lennox all recorded a one-off carol that appeared as a b-side on an otherwise unknown single of each individual/group. For the three vocalists, their presentation was just plain beautiful/amazing. For Erasure, they turned a carol into a very sad tune of loss & loneliness.
