Jarno Virtanen finds a recent Lambda the Ultimate reference to the alt.lang.jre column at IBM Developerworks to be both arrogant and insulting.
My take: "Today, LtU belittles Java and everything around it. In other news, water is wet." LtU took its usual potshot at Java, and Python/Jython received splash damage.
Linguistic purists (like some of the LtU guys) are still preboiled frogs. In computer science as well as in nature, very few pure things are as hardy as mongrels. |
