Mike Cannon-Brookes writes:

Another wicked calendar-tag idea (thinking more about what I just thought) - if the templating were done properly, outputting a vcalendar file from any calendar should be as simple as writing a new template (or plugging in an existing one).

Everyone seems to be talking about calendars these days, now that iCal is out.  What's involved in writing these vcalendar files?

Hmm.

I wonder whether some connection with blogs is possible here.  You probably don't want other people's blog posts showing up on your calendar, though.

Update: vCalendar specs, etc

Update 2: It looks like Morbus Iff has already thought of this, and hacked it together in Movable Type ;-)

Sort-of exploiting Radio's aggregator's HTML double-decoding bug, Richard Truex has the inclusion code for 7am's Java news ticker applet in a post on his blog.  In the aggregator, it comes up as an applet window (and a Java error :)

Is this bug going to get fixed one day?

Dean Goodmanson's PyCS blog, Square Rutabaga, is back online after being wiped out by a hard disk crash a week or two ago.

Just realised that my Radio posts haven't been getting through to the blog; it looks like the 'life in the aggregator' experiment was killing the upstreamer, for some reason.  The notes in the event log made it look like it wasn't getting XML back from the community server.  Interesting.

Better check this out - is it PyCS's fault?

Dave Bryson's Java Community Server is moving along nicely, by the sounds of things.  I just got an e-mail from him, and it sounds like he's encountering the same problems that I ran into back at the start of the Python Community Server development.

Looking forward to being able to play around once he's got something live and online ;-)
