via Macromedia's Design and Developer Center: "This article takes you through the basics of installing Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP so that you can get up and running in no time." Here is a good article for those wanting to setup a LAMP web environment.

From the Java side of the house: Macromedia's JRun 4 has a Mac OS X installer. Mac OS X web developers now have a way of testing and deploying web services on their platform of choice. JRun 4 is a J2EE application server that will enable developers to get a look at the capabilities Flash Remoting provides.

I am glad to see Macromedia's focus shifting. As a long-time Macintosh user, I must admit that it seems like Macromedia has been solely focused on delivering Windows software the past few months. And frankly, I had wondered if I should continue investing time and money in my Macromedia software. The MX docs and web site tutorials have a lot of Windows screenshots, while the DevNet and Studio MX Plus offerings appear to short change those on other platforms. Hopefully, this article and the arrival of Mac OS X installers indicates that Macromedia is committed to nurturing interop between the various OS environments.

via Linux Journal "Another LAMP creation is Phillip Pearson's Blogging Ecosystem, which keeps two Top 300 list: one for the most-link-to-blogs and one for the blogs that do the most linking."

No one can say it any better than Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.. Phil's efforts for the weblogging community is being noted in the respected Linux Journal. This is wonderful news. Our hats are off to you, Phil! Thanks for a job well done!
