Some good notes in that first link about what bzero should be doing when it archives mailing lists:

RSSifying the Mailing List. Informed discussion on turning mailing lists into RSS so they can be read in aggregators, something we did with the group-forming mailing list not long ago. [Seb's Open Research]

BTW that last link goes to dev.myelin.co.nz/gf, which is the public result of RSSifying group-forming.  Actually the list op did the RSS, and I have a cron job set up that reads it then posts new messages to the linked MT blog.  That then generates more RSS.  So there's quite a lot of RSS, in the end ...
